2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Hit with Osimhen Injury Blow Ahead of South Africa Clash
The Super Eagles will be without their star striker, Victor Osimhen, for next week’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
The team’s official X handle revealed the injury on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, head coach Finidi George has called up Kenneth Igboke from Enugu Rangers as a replacement.
The post read, “Camp update: Africa Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen is injured and out for 4 weeks. Super Eagles’ Coach Finidi George has called up Enugu Rangers’ left back Kenneth Igboke for the WC qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Rep.”
Last week, George announced the 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face off against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on June 7, followed by an away match against Benin Republic on June 10.
