Tragedy Strikes Shooting Stars as Assistant Coach Akin Olowookere Collapses and Dies During Training

In a deeply saddening development, Akin Olowookere, the newly appointed assistant coach at Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, collapsed and tragically passed away during a training session on Monday morning in Ijebu-Ode.
Witnesses say Olowookere—who previously played for Sunshine Stars of Akure before transitioning into coaching—slumped while on the pitch and was immediately attended to by medical staff. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.
The football community has been left reeling from the sudden loss of the coach, known for his calm demeanor and passion for developing players. Although he had only just been brought on board following the departure of the previous coaching staff led by Gbenga Ogunbote, his impact was already being felt across the club.
Shooting Stars FC and their supporters are now mourning the passing of a coach who embodied both dedication and technical expertise. The club is expected to issue an official statement and share funeral arrangements in the coming days.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Olowookere’s family, friends, and the entire Shooting Stars community during this difficult time.
