Singer Sean Kingston Jailed 3.5 Years Over $1m Fraud Case

American-Jamaican singer Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his involvement in a $1 million fraud scheme targeting luxury goods.

The artist, born Kisean Paul Anderson, was convicted in March alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud. Turner received a five-year prison sentence last month.

According to prosecutors, Kingston leveraged his celebrity status to acquire high-end items including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED television without paying for them. Court filings revealed he used fake wire transfer receipts and enticed sellers with promises of social media promotion.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston’s immediate imprisonment, rejecting a plea from his attorney for delayed surrender on health grounds. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton labeled Kingston a “thief and conman,” alleging he had exploited his fame to deceive victims for years.

Defense lawyer Zeljka Bozanic argued the 35-year-old lacked financial discipline but had already begun repaying some victims.

Kingston and his mother were arrested in May 2024 after a SWAT team raided his rented Fort Lauderdale mansion.

The singer, who rose to global fame in 2007 at just 17 with the chart-topping hit Beautiful Girls, now faces one of the toughest chapters of his career.
