“I Found It Amusing” – Ladipoe Responds to Wizkid’s Jibe at Don Jazzy Over His Tweet
Nigerian rapper, Ladipoe has reacted to the controversy stirred by his recent tweet supposedly mocking Wizkid.
We recalls that the Mavin Records signee seemingly ridiculed Wizkid for claiming that āhip hop is deadā.
Ladipoe, on his X handle, wrote, āNigerian rappers that survived āhip hop is deadā watching Afrobeat artistes go through their own.
After a fan alerted Wizkid to the post, he reacted by saying, āLol, never chatting with anyone signed to an influencer. Next.ā
He also retweeted two tweets suggesting that he referred to Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy as an influencer.
Wizkid subtle shade at Don Jazzy sparked outrage on social media, with several celebrities including skit makers, Mr Macaroni and Nasboi and reality stars, Doyin and Tacha berating him for ādisrespectingā the Mavin boss.
Reacting in a recent interview with Cool FM, Lagos, Ladipoe said he was āamusedā by the chaos.
He explained that his tweet was grossly misunderstood.
He said, āThe whole thing was a joke. Hip-hop artists have been through this time when there was a faux narrative that hip-hop Iād dead. And now, you are getting the same whispers about Afrobeats. Once again, I think that they are just as ridiculous and false as at the time they were saying hip-hop is dead.
āSo my tweet was like, āOkay, you guys [Afrobeats singers], we [rappers] went through our own [hard times]. Donāt worry, this too shall pass.ā
āI was more like a joke like we went through ours, now you are going through yours. That was the joke. If thereās anybody it was aimed at, it is more aimed at the audience or anybody who believes these narratives. Who are you to say any genre is dead?
āThat was the whole intention behind the joke. Any other interpretation of it is something I didnāt anticipate. I know what I was thinking when I tweeted it. I tweeted it. Went to bed. Woke up to chaos.
āTo be honest, the first thing I felt when I saw all the reactions, I was amused.ā
