‘PDP, Fubara Urged Me to Accept Tinubu’s Ministerial Offer’ – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Siminalayi Fubara endorsed his acceptance of the FCT ministerial position.
Wike explained that before accepting the role offered by President Bola Tinubu, he informed the PDP leadership at all levels. He also received approval from Governor Fubara.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wike said, “Before I took this appointment, I wrote to the PDP—at the national, zonal, and state levels. My governor also signed a letter recommending that I accept the appointment.”
President Tinubu appointed Wike as FCT Minister following his victory in the 2023 presidential election. Wike, having supported Tinubu over the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar during the election, later faced tensions with his successor, Governor Fubara, sparking a crisis in Rivers State.
