Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage, has revealed that a painful heartbreak was the inspiration behind one of her tattoos.
In a recent interview with media personality Katy Igwe, Savage disclosed that she flew in her tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos because she didn’t want to display her pain publicly in a tattoo parlour.
According to her, the experience was intense and bloody, leaving the artist concerned.
“I flew in my tattoo artist from LA to Nigeria and had the session in my room because I wanted to be in a comfortable environment. In tattoo parlours, there are usually so many people around, and I didn’t want to go through that pain in public.
When he started, there was blood everywhere. He kept asking, ‘What are you doing? Is this going to come off?’ He was more worried about me than the tattoo itself,” she recounted.
Savage explained that the tattoo served as an outlet for the emotional turmoil she was experiencing at the time.
“I did that tattoo because of the pain I felt from heartbreak. It was my way of screaming without words. The last two years were really tough. That relationship was crazy, and I’m just grateful I’m out of it now,” she added.
