LaLiga: He wants new challenge – Flick reacts to Lewandowski’s departure from Barcelona
Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has reacted to striker Robert Lewandowski’s departure from the club at the end of the season.
Recall that the Poland international recently revealed he will walk away from Camp Nou this summer following the expiration of his contract in June.
During his time at Barcelona, Lewandowski has netted 119 goals across 191 matches.
Reacting, Flick explained that the 37-year-old is seeking a fresh chapter, calling it an honour to have coached the former Bayern Munich attacker.
“It’s been a great chapter for him. For me, it’s been a privilege to work with him because he is a true professional,” Flick told reporters during his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Real Betis on Sunday night.
“He is a role model, which is why he is still performing at this level. Now, he wants a new challenge, and we respect that.”
