Nigerian Government Announces Hike in Passport Fees

The Federal Government has approved an upward review of Nigerian passport fees, effective September 1, 2025. The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), A.S. Akinlabi.
According to the NIS, the adjustment is aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, which will officially take effect on the same date.
Under the new fee structure:
₦100,000 for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity.
₦200,000 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
The service clarified that the review applies only to applications made within Nigeria. Fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at:
$150 for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity.
$230 for a 64-page passport with 10-year validity.
The NIS reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality service while ensuring passport services remain accessible to all Nigerians.
