2026 World Cup draw: Trump confirms date, venue

The draw is scheduled to take place on December 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Trump announced during a briefing at the Oval Office on Friday, alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
“It’s probably the biggest event in sports,” Trump said.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada and will feature 48 teams for the first time, up from the traditional 32.
So far, 13 teams have secured qualification: Canada, Mexico, USA, Australia, IR Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Korea Republic, Japan, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, and New Zealand.
The tournament will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
