Ogunsakin advances at US Open Junior Championships
Nigeria’s fast-rising tennis player Seun Ogunsakin has won his first qualifying match at the 2026 US Open Junior Tennis Championships, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Aurum Tennis Academy sensation defeated Poland’s Tymon Litwic 6-3, 6-0 to book his place in the final round of qualifying.
The 14-year-old will now face Canada’s Felix Roussel in the next round.
Ogunsakin is competing in his third consecutive Grand Slam event. His Grand Slam journey began at the Roland Garros Junior Championships before he featured at Wimbledon Juniors.
This year, the youngster reached the main draw of the boys’ singles at Wimbledon and the semi-finals of the doubles event, capping a historic run in the UK.
The US Open Junior Championships feature 64 players in each of the boys’ and girls’ singles draws, along with 32 teams in each of the boys’ and girls’ doubles events.
The singles qualifying tournaments consist of 32 players competing for one of six berths reserved for qualifiers in each of the junior singles main draws.
The 2026 US Open Junior Championships main draw will run from Sunday, September 6, to Saturday, September 12.
