“Get Ready My Brother”: Davido Sends Playful Warning To Edo Governor Okpebholo After Adeleke’s Osun Win
Fresh off his uncle’s re-election victory in Osun State, Davido wasted no time turning his attention to one of his biggest sparring partners this election season Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo. In a new Instagram story, Davido tagged the governor directly with a cheeky, half-warning: “@he_mondayokpebholo get ready my brother!!! Make I sleep first nah me and u 2moro.”
Why These Two Have Beef In The First Place
This latest message is the newest chapter in a feud that’s been building for weeks. It all started when Governor Okpebholo, campaigning for APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the Osun election, took a swipe at Adeleke over his well-known love of dancing questioning why the governor kept dancing instead of “signing papers” and getting to work, after four years in office.
Davido didn’t take that lightly. He fired back by sharing what appeared to be Okpebholo’s WAEC result on social media, a move that instantly divided public opinion some praised the singer for defending his uncle, while others, including legal practitioner Timothy Tugbiyele, publicly argued Davido had overstepped by directly engaging a sitting governor as a private citizen and called on him to apologise.
Davido didn’t back down. During a rally shortly after, he doubled down verbally, accusing Okpebholo of only growing bolder in his comments because he’s “seen small money” and questioning what exactly was wrong with his uncle enjoying dancing. Then, on August 10, when Okpebholo posted a lengthy statement about meeting APC leaders across Edo State’s 18 local government areas, Davido mocked the post’s phrasing directly, commenting that there was no way in heaven the governor had typed it himself a jab widely read as mocking Okpebholo’s communication skills and education.
