“We Will Be Victorious, Inshallah”: Lil Durk’s Father Asks Fans To Pray Ahead Of Son’s Trial

As Chicago rapper Lil Durk’s federal trial approaches, his father, Dontay “Big Durk” Banks, has once again stepped forward publicly this time with a message rooted entirely in faith, asking fans and supporters around the world to keep his son in their prayers.

What Big Durk Actually Said

Speaking directly to camera ahead of the trial, Banks Sr. delivered a message steeped in his family’s Islamic faith, closing with the line: “Don’t let a day go past that you don’t make dua for us, and we will be victorious in the end, inshallah.” It’s a message he’s repeated in various forms throughout the entire ordeal steady, faith-driven, and consistently framing his son’s legal battle as something the family intends to overcome together, spiritually and otherwise.

The Case Behind The Prayers

For anyone who hasn’t followed the full story, Lil Durk born Durk Devontay Banks was arrested in Florida in October 2024 on charges connected to a murder-for-hire plot tied to the 2022 killing of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of rival rapper Quando Rondo. He was indicted alongside several members of his hip-hop group, Only the Family, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges throughout the proceedings. His bail requests have been repeatedly denied, including one proposal involving round-the-clock private security and over a million dollars in cash and assets, despite his legal team arguing he had no prior criminal record. The trial, originally set for October 2025, was pushed back to January 2026 due to the case’s complexity and the sheer volume of discovery and witnesses involved.

A Father Who Knows This Fight Personally

Big Durk’s unwavering public support carries extra weight given his own history. He served nearly 25 years in federal prison on a drug conviction before his sentence was ultimately overturned in 2019 meaning he’s speaking from lived experience with the federal justice system, not just as a concerned parent watching from the outside. He’s remained a consistent, visible presence throughout his son’s case, previously appearing on The Breakfast Club to discuss Durk’s deepening Islamic faith while in custody, even claiming his son had inspired over a dozen fellow inmates to convert to Islam during his time behind bars. He’s also publicly pushed back on the timing of the charges themselves, arguing it was “strange” that his son was indicted right around the period he’d turned his life toward religion, philanthropy, and community peace-building efforts in Chicago.

The Family Has Rallied Around Him Throughout

Big Durk hasn’t been the only family member speaking out. Durk’s son, Zayden Banks, publicly defended his father on Instagram following the arrest, describing him as a great father who has always supported and loved their family unconditionally, while reminding followers that he remains legally innocent until proven otherwise. Inside the courtroom itself, Durk has reportedly remained composed and outwardly strong throughout hearings, with his father describing him as smiling and standing firmly on his faith even after difficult rulings.

Wahala Network Take

Whatever the outcome of the trial, there’s something genuinely moving about watching a father who once endured decades behind bars himself now standing publicly in faith for his son, asking an entire fanbase to hold his family in prayer. Legal battles like this carry real weight beyond the headlines for now, all eyes remain on the courtroom, and clearly, plenty of dua going up alongside it.
