“Poor Man Too Dey Serious” — Peruzzi Clashes With X User Over P-Square’s Ongoing Feud

The Peter and Paul Okoye saga just can’t stay off timelines and this time, it’s Nigerian singer Peruzzi pulling fans into the conversation with a joke that didn’t land quite the way he expected.

It Started With a Joke About the Birthday Drama

Taking to X, Peruzzi poked fun at the ongoing rift between the P-Square twins, referencing Peter Okoye’s now-widely-discussed decision to move his birthday celebration away from the date he shares with his brother. In his post, Peruzzi joked that P-Square changing their birthday was proof enough that the twins are never getting back together, capping it off with a laughing emoji.

It was a lighthearted jab at a story that’s dominated Nigerian entertainment gist for months but not everyone found it funny.

An X User Pushes Back

X user @steven_4xx, going by “niche of the nicheless,” quote-tweeted Peruzzi with a pointed question, asking what exactly was supposed to be funny about the situation. The response read as a direct challenge to Peruzzi’s joke, suggesting the birthday saga and by extension, the very public breakdown between the twins wasn’t something to be laughed at.

Peruzzi didn’t let it slide. He fired back with a blunt one-liner, dismissing the pushback and telling the user that some people simply take things too seriously.

The Bigger Story Behind the Joke

Peruzzi’s original tweet taps into a saga that’s been building since earlier this year. Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, announced in April 2026 that he was officially changing his birthday celebration from November 18 the date he shares with his twin brother, Paul, aka Rudeboy to November 30 instead. In a statement posted on X, Peter made clear he would no longer be accepting messages or gifts on the shared date, framing it as a personal decision.

The move set off a wave of criticism online, with fans and supporters arguing that no family dispute should be enough to make someone abandon a date tied to something as fundamental as being a twin. Peter, however, doubled down, firing back at critics and comparing the backlash to accusing him of canceling Christmas.

The birthday switch is just the latest chapter in a much longer, messier story. P-Square’s issues trace back to a major fallout around 2015, largely tied to management disputes involving their older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, alongside disagreements over royalties and creative control. The group officially disbanded in 2017, with Peter continuing as Mr P and Paul as Rudeboy, before an emotional reconciliation in 2021 that fans celebrated widely. That reunion, though, didn’t hold tensions resurfaced over financial transparency and catalogue management, eventually spilling into public exchanges and reported legal proceedings involving the Okoye family.

Peter has continued addressing the situation across multiple video installments, alleging he was taken advantage of for years by those closest to him, while Paul has largely maintained that P-Square, as a group, is finished, choosing instead to focus solely on his solo Rudeboy brand.

Fans Remain Split

The exchange between Peruzzi and @steven_4xx is really just a smaller echo of a much larger divide among Nigerian fans. Some believe the constant public back-and-forth between the brothers has gone on long enough to warrant a bit of humor and distance, while others feel the situation is too heavy a genuine family fracture, not internet content to be joked about so casually.

Peruzzi’s “poor man too dey serious” response has only added fuel to that debate, with the exchange itself now circulating as its own mini moment alongside the broader P-Square story.

Where Things Stand

Paul Okoye has yet to publicly respond to his brother’s birthday announcement, and with reports of ongoing legal proceedings between the siblings, it doesn’t look like this saga is anywhere close to resolved. For now, though, it’s clear the internet has plenty of opinions whether they’re laughing along with Peruzzi or side-eyeing him for it.
