“Naso Jesus Talk Say Make We Run Am”: TG Omori Gets Real About the Search for Love
Known for putting other people’s love stories on screen, Nigerian music video director TG Omori just turned the camera on himself this time with a tweet, not a lens.
TG Omori took to X with a candid, pidgin-laced declaration: “CURRENTLY SEARCHING FOR A WOMAN I GO LOVE AND I GO DIE FOR AM IF NEED BE. NASO JESUS TALK SAY MAKE WE RUN AM.” Translated: he’s actively looking for a woman he could love deeply enough to die for if it ever came to that and he’s framing that level of devotion as exactly the kind of love Jesus taught people to pursue, referencing the biblical idea of laying down one’s life for someone you love.
It’s a striking mix romantic longing wrapped in scripture, delivered in the kind of unfiltered Nigerian pidgin that’s become a hallmark of how Omori communicates online.
For anyone who doesn’t recognize the name immediately, TG Omori real name ThankGod Omori Jesam is one of Nigeria’s most prolific and sought-after music video directors, working in the industry since 2016. His visual fingerprints are all over some of Afrobeats’ biggest hits, having directed videos for artists including Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tekno, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy DML, Asake, Naira Marley, and many others. At one point in 2019, he was reportedly responsible for roughly half of the music videos charting simultaneously across MTV, Soundcity, and Trace a genuinely staggering share of the industry’s visual output for a single director.
