Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has backed Lamine Yamal to become a football legend, praising the Barcelona youngster’s remarkable rise.
In a post shared by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano on X on Sunday, la Fuente said Yamal is “on his way to become an absolute football legend”, underlining the high regard in which he holds the teenage forward.
The Spain coach also suggested that, if Yamal were the only Spanish player in contention for the Ballon d’Or, he would consider him the country’s standout candidate.
“If he was the only Spanish player in the run for Ballon d’Or, I’d say he’s the absolute best,” De la Fuente said.
However, he stressed that Spain have several players deserving of recognition and said he wanted to respect all of them.
“There are more of our players and I respect them,” he added.
Yamal has established himself as one of the most exciting young players in world football, with his performances for both Barcelona and Spain continuing to attract widespread praise.
De la Fuente’s latest comments further underline the confidence Spain have in Yamal’s ability to develop into one of the defining players of his generation.
