“Anybody Supporting APC Is An Enemy of Progress” — Davido Goes Full Campaign Mode Days Before Osun Decides
Davido has never been the quiet type when it comes to Osun politics, but this latest post takes it up a notch. With the state’s governorship election just days away, the singer took to X with a line guaranteed to set timelines on fire: “Anybody supporting APC in Osun state is an enemy of progress! Lessons will be learnt this weekend”
Short. Direct. Zero ambiguity about where he stands.
Why Davido Is This Deep in Osun Politics
For anyone just tuning in, this isn’t Davido randomly picking a political side for clout. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party banner, is Davido’s uncle. That family tie has made the singer one of the most vocal celebrity campaigners in the entire race, and he hasn’t been shy about it.
In the days leading up to this post, Davido had already been on a run: celebrating a phone call between President Bola Tinubu and his uncle as “history,” mocking APC chieftain Bashir Ahmad’s primary election performance, and reacting to the massive turnout at the inauguration of the Lagere Flyover in Ile-Ife with the declaration that “you can’t stop God’s project,” while accusing the APC of trying to obstruct the state’s development. The APC, for its part, hasn’t stayed silent either a spokesman for the party’s Osun campaign council recently pushed back publicly, arguing that voters should judge Davido on his record as Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund rather than his campaign appearances, and questioning why he’s largely absent between election cycles.
